It is Bank Holiday Monday and there are blue skies with high white clouds, bright hot sunshine and the kids want to watch DVDs. Instead of despairing we dragged them out to see the dragonflys in the Dragonfly Sanctuary in the Cornmill Meadows, just North of Waltham Abbey. The merdian marker is a stone from the old London Bridge, which was demolished in 1968, carved with a relief map of the world. It sits astride the 0° line that runs north from Greenwich.
You'll need to zoom some of the pics (the ones that just look like shots of grass and reeds) to see the dragonflies and damselflies - they're not great as I have no zoom on the camera.
